England x reader- Surprise Picnic
The clouds slowly meandered across the bright blue sky. Spring was just beginning to blanket the land with new life and fresh blossoms. You sat in the park under a budding apple tree on an old wooden bench. Couples flocked among the fresh grass and warming air. A particular elderly pair were walking up the hill in your direction. You smiled. They looked so cute together.
'Where is he?' You thought. 'He should be here by now...' Your eyes began to grow heavy and you considered heading back home.
"_____, I'm sorry I'm late," A voice startled you and you looked about. Arthur Kirkland had just walked up to you and was about to take a seat on the bench beside you. He held a basket in the crook of his arm which he transferred to his lap once he sat down. You wore a delighted smile as he leaned back comfortably, allowing his head to tilt back and his eyes to close.
"So this is the surprise, huh?" You nodded toward the basket. "A picnic?" One of his emerald eyes opened to meet your gaze. He smiled.
"Yes," He resumed a proper sitting position and went to open the basket. "But it is only part of it," You looked out at the field and the clouds' shadows upon the green. Suddenly, Arthur stood and offered you his left hand. "How about we go someplace else?" He looked down at you, his face drawn up in complete bliss. You loved seeing him this way. It seemed so normal to see him with his thick eyebrows furrowed and a scowl upon his face. But whenever he spent time with you, he just... changed.
You hesitantly placed your hand inside of his and rose to your feet. Arthur retrieved the basket and began to walk through the park, his fingers laced in yours. He had never acted this way toward you before. Holding hands... 'Maybe he was just being a bit more of a gentleman today as a part of my surprise,' You were still contemplating this when the two of you arrived at a lovely sight. You paused on a hill that gave you an entire view of the busy London streets below. Big Ben was even visible in the distance.
"Oh my," You said, bashfully tucking a strand of (hair color) hair behind your ear. "This is lovely," Arthur's heart soared at the sight of your smile. He let go of your hand and began to spread out the blanket. You marveled at the scenery a small while longer before breaking away and helping him unload the food he had prepared. Scones, tea, sandwiches and other delicious things materialized from the basket.
Once you got settled, Arthur unwrapped the scones and handed one to you. The edges were a bit blackened, you noticed. "I... I burned them... You don't have to eat them if you don't want. No one really does. But you said you liked scones..."
"I would love them!" You reached out at his hand, pulling him and the scone to you. Arthur cussed and dropped the pastry and clasped his hand. It was then you noticed the cloth bandage swaddled around it. "Oh.. Oh Arthur, I'm so sorry..." You wanted to comfort him in some way but could not figure out how.
"It's fine... You didn't know, _____" He forced a smile and shook off his pain. You looked down at the scone he had dropped. You always loved them. No matter what the other's opinion was about them, you found them quite delicious. You picked it up and took a bite. True, it did taste a bit bitter and burned but the sweet glaze it had was tasty and it was rich and yummy.
"Arthur, burned or not it tastes great," You smiled which seemed to lift his spirits even more.
"You're so kind to me..." he said, taking a scone for himself. "Everyone else seems as if they have to put up with me... But you," Arthur turned to you, "You seem to genuinely appreciate me," You looked back at him, seeing yet another glimpse of someone you have never seen before. The Englishmen changed the subject by bringing out tea. Soon enough you were chatting like normal, sipping tea and looking out over London.
Without even realizing, the sun began to set. You and Arthur began to pack up the supplies and leftover food then the two of you started to walk back through the park, his hand once again around yours.
"This was a great surprise," You sighed, happily.
"It's not over yet," Arthur stopped and pulled you into him, looking down into your eyes. A hand clasped your chin and brought your lips to his. Once you parted, you looked up at him a cute surprised expression on your face. He laughed lightly and kissed you again. This time you gave in and kissed him back, wrapping your arms around the back of his neck. "Surprise," He whispered in your ear. You smiled and nuzzled into his neck.
"Thank you,"

I was just leaving on of those World Meetings my best friend Alfred F. Jones, or in this place America, invited me to. He brought me here so I would just agree on anything he said. All I did was just read my book with him babbling in the background. I swear everything he said sounded like more fantasy than my book. I was halfway down the hallway when somebody snatched the book out of my hand. Alfred. I turned around to find him flipping through the pages, like he actually cared what was on them. He gave his so-called hero laugh.
"Dude, (Name) why are you reading this, 'The Lord of the Rings' this book is for total nerds." I crossed my arms a

It made you shiver as he stared at you as if he were going to devour you whole, you didn't like it one bit.

Cheesy-ness is something I love, and that ending is adorable! My friends might think I'm weird now....just for reading cheesy or romantic things because I seem so emotionless sometimes. But my friend NEVER wants to hear the words "Lemon" and "Romance" again when I told her what Lemon means in fanfic terms! XD
